Impact Performance: A Fitness Studio with a Mysterious Twist

A Unique Space Designed by Shunsuke Ohe

A mysterious world like an underground space spreads out. Each floor has a different taste, from a floor that looks like a street fight is about to start to a suspicious floor lit up with yellow and purple neon lights. It is a space where you can train your body as if you were a fighter yourself.

The Impact Performance fitness studio, designed by Shunsuke Ohe, offers a one-of-a-kind training experience. Inspired by the concept of a mysterious underground world, this space takes you out of your daily life and immerses you in a different realm. With its unique exterior design reminiscent of Brooklyn, New York, and its interior resembling an underground space, Impact Performance stands out from other fitness studios.

The studio is spread across four floors, each with its own distinct atmosphere. The dark, blackish hues used throughout the space create a sense of mystery and intrigue. The ceilings are finished with deck base paint, while the walls feature a combination of mortar rough-coating, painted brick, and ALC panel base mesh fencing. The floors are made of concrete, rubber sheet, and vinyl sheet, providing a durable and functional surface for various training activities.

Designed with efficiency and user safety in mind, each floor is carefully arranged to provide a unique training experience. From a floor that evokes the energy of a street fight to a floor illuminated by vibrant neon lights, each space offers a different perspective on the world of training. The building's core is a stairwell connecting all four floors, ensuring a clear flow line for trainers.

Lighting and acoustics play a crucial role in motivating users to train, and these factors were given careful consideration in the design. Impact Performance aims to create an environment that not only challenges the body but also stimulates the senses, making every workout session a memorable experience.

Located in Osaka, Japan, the Impact Performance project took place from July 2019 to February 2020. The design team, led by Shunsuke Ohe, collaborated with interior designer Shunsuke Ohe and lighting designer Natsuki Sudo to bring this unique fitness studio to life.

Recognized for its innovative and practical design, Impact Performance was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022. This prestigious accolade is given to creations that meet professional and industrial requirements while integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics. Impact Performance stands as a testament to the power of well-designed spaces to inspire and contribute to a better world.
